“Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. The four pillars of food security are availability, access, utilization and stability.”

Welcome to this exciting new pilot website. This site has been established following recent research of food security practitioners in Australia, conducted by the VLGA with support from VicHealth.
The website's purpose is to improve how we support the work of food security practitioners and other workers who are coming to the issue of building community food resilience more recently. We want it to be a one-stop shop for information about addressing local, community an regional barriers to food security for households and individuals. We also want it to be a way which connects workers with experts, people who have delivered projects or policies previously. Let's not reinvent the wheel but rather continue to support our culture of sharing good information with other good people. We are intending to build on this pilot web site over time, funding permitting. Consequently we would value your feedback about content and layout. We would like the good, the bad and the ugly! We also encourage you to let us know what other information you think should be hosted here. If you develop or discover a terrific resource please share it with us, likewise any conference or training opportunities.
